Lanaia Drives in Spain!
We went up to Malaga to pick up Lanaia's rental car. The Ford POS is a standard, so we booked an automatic for her to drive while I return to work. Its a nice ride, a Mercedes A180. I get the Ford POS, Lanaia gets the Mercedes. They are actually the same price, but it's luck of the draw at the rental counter. We were supposed to get a Ford Fiesta or Opel Corsa auto, but the Mercedes was there so we got it.
We arranged for Lanaia to follow me back to Ikea, where we planned to leave the POS while we toured Malaga. Well...Lanaia decided to go to Malaga rather than back towards the Ikea. She made it there in about 30 minutes.
We went into Malaga to tour the harbour and to see another castle! We parked near the Plaza del Toro (bullring) and walked up, waaaay up, to the castle for a tour and pictures. We walked down, waaaay down to the harbour to look at some old square rigged sailing ships. One was a steel clipper, one was a replica of an old Spanish three decker, and the third was the HMS Bounty - commisioned by MGM movie studio and build in Nova Scotia for use in the 1960 movie Mutiny on the Bounty with Marlon Brando as Fletcher Christian. Overall it was a fast tour as we had to get back to book our last round of golf at Finca Courtesin before the shop closed.
The drive home...
Lanaia dropped me off at Ikea to pick up the POS. She was sure of the instructions... out onto the A7 highway from the second roundabout, west to the appartment...I headed to book the golf, she was to go get groceries and meet me at the apartment. At the two hour mark I started to wonder how long groceries can really take to pick up after a 30 minute drive. She returned shortly after with an amazing story of a sightseeing tour of Torremollinos, Benalmaldina, Fuengirola and finally back to the apartment, with no groceries. Quote of the day - "I made a couple of wrong turns. Some of the old streets in Torremollinos are really narrow like Rondha!"
She really is a good driver and navigator - not sure what happened on this one.
