Time Warp at Larossi Hotel

Lounge at the Larossi Hotel - Can you dig it?
All we needed was polyester leisure suits and some disco! Groovy, Baby!

You expect to see Sean Connery as James Bond somewhere in here!

We did a security check at the Larossi Hotel to see if it was suitable for our staff or guests to stay here. The hotel was built in the 1970's by the Russians and hasn't seen an update since! It was like a time warp back to 1975. The curtains, the furniture, the lighting, all was right out of the golden age of AM radio and 8 track tapes. We had plenty of laughs looking at the decor of the place. If you are ever in Algiers, be sure to check it out.

We went for a tour of a couple of hotels to check out the security and accomodations with William, our head of security in Algeria.

The first hotel was the St. George, a lovely old place with individually decorated rooms.

In WWII, Dwight Eisenhower had his office in this hotel while they planned the invasion of southern Europe. There were several plaques commemorating the historical significance. We didn't get to go in his room, but did go into the conference room where the planning took place.

Algiers Trip

I went to Algiers for a business trip this month. Our company keeps a large villa rather than an office, so we stayed and conducted our business there. The building is built in the typical Algerian style out of bricks and mortar. The insides are done up nicely with plenty of tile and marble. It rained hard for the 4 days we were there, but finally cleared up some for the pictures on the last day.
