Lobby of the St. George Hotel in Algiers.We went for a tour of a couple of hotels to check out the security and accomodations with William, our head of security in Algeria.
The first hotel was the St. George, a lovely old place with individually decorated rooms.
In WWII, Dwight Eisenhower had his office in this hotel while they planned the invasion of southern Europe. There were several plaques commemorating the historical significance. We didn't get to go in his room, but did go into the conference room where the planning took place.
