The Forte at Cape Sagres

Us...the end of the world...

Furna (an eroded hole in the cliffs that goes all the way to sea level)
The Church on the grounds of the Forte which has been refurbished, last year it was closed to the public but looks amazing now.

FISHING AT THE FORTE...
Locals come to fish for their supper off the cliffs at the Forte of Cape Sagres. It is extremely scary to watch them out there on the ledges with huge fishing rods and line down to the sea level about 100 metres or so. It is an amazing and crazy feat.
This local fisherman caught a fish in the surf so we stayed to watch the process of catching and getting it up the cliff and landed. Once the fish is hooked he then attaches a metal net onto the line and lowers it with a rope to the water, gets the fish inside and then pulls it all the way up to the top of the cliff.

This turned out to be the coolest picture as he pulls the fish up in the net from the surf.
Hard work!...The family eats good tonight on sea bass...
