Swimming

Matt floating in the pool.

This is one of the tourist trains that travels around Vilamoura. I have mentioned them before but have finally gotten a picture of one. The trains have routes around the residential areas and down to the marina and beach area. They run year round but they are not often full, even this summer, unfortunately. We are curious why and it may be due to cost but not sure. It costs 5 euro per day per person. Prett neat though.

Dolphin Safari Tour

We took a Dolphin Safari Tour from the Vilamoura marina on a rib boat. Our friend Linda works for the tour company we booked with. It was a blast! Matt finished his exam and was ready for some excitement before heading back to work.

This is a rather large sail boat in the marina. Leaving the marina we had a few different views than we normally get on our walks, it was fun to see.

We SAW DOLPHINS!!! They don't guarantee sitings but we found a family feeding so we spent about 10 minutes cruising with them. They were swimming all around our boat. It was fantastic! I did not get any snap shots of them but I will try and upload some video we got.

On the return trip we cruised the coastline and went to see the rock caves. It was beautiful. Now we have the boat bug pretty bad. There are some great places on the coast that you can cruise to.

One of the many beaches in the Algarve. Some are only accessible by water.

The mansion on the cliffs in the middle of the picture is worth 4 million euro, Wow and what a view.
Our tour amigos.
We had a fun afternoon, will do it again.

Around Vilamoura in August

The beach in Quarteira, we wanted to walk around and check things out but there was no parking to be had. Holidayers park everywhere possible and then they double park.

Some people still get around by horse and buggy. This was near Almancil where I go for my Portuguese lessons.
Figs off the fig tree in the yard. They are quite sweet and very seedy texture.

The Vilamoura marina, out for dinner.

Much busier now...

The Critters

The critters we have encountered in our yard.
There is a family of Dwarf bunnies living in the corner of the yard and we see them occasionally.
The house is open a lot so one evening we found this gecko on our bathroom wall. They are our friends though, they eat lots of bugs.

Matt had to be the critter catcher...

We let him go on our deck.
Here he is on the edge of our pool.
One morning having breakfast on the deck we spotted a cameleon crossing our deck by the cactus pots. He was doing his camoflage walk and matched the terra-cotta tiles exactly. We grabbed the camera and by then he was on this plant blending very well. We took some video but I was unsuccessful uploading it onto the blog...sorry.

Flowers in our Yard this Summer

The nectarine tree, it was full of fruit, we couldn't eat them fast enough. So many ripened and fell of the tree for the birds and the rabbits.

These smell so nice.
